Ten 45-seconds long “radio circulars” (“Wurfsendungen”) cast their own (spot)light on the five “rádio d-cz” topics –both in Czech and German versions.
They are as short as radio ads and as varied as radio art: the “Wurfsendungen”, radio circulars that are thrown randomly into the set programme slots at Deutschlandradio Kultur several times a day. More than 1200 programmes have been produced in more than 100 series since this mini-radio play format was started in September 2004. Whether a thriller, original sound collage, a short feature, limerick, poem, aphorism or a haiku – experiments with form and content have no boundaries.“Wurfsendung” programmes have meanwhile achieved cult status. The concept of this short radiophonic form has been presented at numerous international festivals and on the stage and has now also been adopted by other broadcasters, such as the BBC or Radio Danmark. At last, the “Wurfsendung” went Czech! “Čajovna” (“Tearoom”), a workday programme on the Czech radio station Vltava (Český rozhlas 3) that specialises in radio plays and radio documentaries for young listeners, produced ten “Wurfsendungen”, written for “Deutschlandradio Kultur”. On the basis of the same script, there will be two different versions in two languages and two radio cultures.
